Description
NCsoft brings a whole new experience to the fantasy role playing game genre with Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle. This all-new game, developed and published by NCsoft, is a prequel to their blockbuster hit, Lineage. Set 150 years before Lineage, as the kingdom of Aden becomes a unified state, Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle is designed to show the struggles that take place during a time where several provinces come under one rule. Old loyalties must change, new structure must be established and national sovereignty and pride must be formed. However, a group of lands coming under single rule doesn’t equate to immediate peace… In this world, many players fight for control over any and every piece of the new kingdom. In the struggle for power and glory, who will you be? Lineage II will offer a total of five races to choose from. Within each race, players can choose a specific class: wizard or warrior, giving players up to ten race/class options to choose from. The Lineage II character development system allows players to really experience their avatar’s growth in more meaningful ways. As players advance, new sets of skills and items become available to them. There are some similarities in place names, monsters you see, and certain classes available between Lineage and Lineage II, but the similarities stop there. Using Unreal game engine technology, the backgrounds and characters are beautifully expressed in full 3D graphics. They have a nearly perfect, life-like appearance, giving Lineage II a look and feel that separates it from its predecessor – and all other MMORPGs. The enhanced graphics and animation in this game take the player into this medieval world. Not only are the environments robustly rendered, they come together seamlessly with single load technology. Backgrounds unfold naturally, as if you were really in a forest, castle or temple – there is no wait to load the map when traveling from zone to zone. The game plays more like a movie than a typical MMORPG. Perhaps the best feature of Lineage II is how the 3D graphics and combat system meld to make a dramatic representation of castle sieges. Because the graphics are so realistic and the views may be adjusted, it is easier to see the castle, its ramparts and gates – and to place characters in strategic places in order to defend the fortress. Imagine swooping over castle ramparts on the back of a dragon and shooting down the archers who guard them. Impress your leader by wielding special weapons created for siege warfare. Feel the intensity as you approach a grandiose castle with hordes of clan members ready to defend – will you live through the fight? Lineage II models its political and economic systems after those from medieval times. From landowners to castle lords to the king or queen, these systems are closely related to those actually used in medieval Europe. Both systems are particularly robust – the political system, based on groups called clans, allows for power shifts, alliances and power delegation. The economic system and political system work together, enabling players to pay taxes to, and rally support troops from, the lord of the area. Although complex battle, political and economic systems are available in Lineage II, those new to gaming can still enjoy playing because of its easily learned interface and well-engineered combat system. Within a couple of minutes, novices will know all basic movements, including fighting. Novice players will enjoy the beautiful scenery and realistic monsters, as they hunt their way to higher character levels. Once they have mastered certain skills, new players may decide to participate in the more complex aspects of Lineage II and band with others to share victories and camaraderie. Or they may wish to continue fighting alone and ridding the world of the evil they come across. In Lineage II, there is always something to do to entertain players, no matter what their level or play style preferences are. In addition to friendships made and clans or alliances created in-game, Lineage II offers many features outside the online space of Aden. Player message boards, clan home pages, and other functions will further facilitate the sense of community and integrate each player’s in-game life and real life. Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle has taken all the elements expected in a medieval fantasy game and enhanced them for greater enjoyment of the genre. The game is currently in closed beta in Korea. Soon, it is planned for launch in such markets as the U.S., Japan, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
