| Description
|
It’s a simple motto of tennis – if you can’t serve, you can’t win a match. It starts a point and in the professional world it can often win a point. The serve is one of the most fundamentally important parts of a tennis game and in Top Spin for PlayStation®2, players are in total control of the four types of serves in tennis.
The top spin serve is one of the most effective serves to use as the tumbling action on the ball gives it the highest percentage of accuracy during a service. Second serves are almost always top spin serves though players with explosive serves can deliver more spin on the ball to give it extra "kick". The slice serve imparts a sideways spin on the ball so the ball veers away from the court (on right handed services), making it a very tactical serve to use if an opponent is out of position. The Risk Serve is essential the player’s first serve – a very hard, flat serve with little spinning action but a whole bunch of speed. Finally, the Spoon serve is an underhand serve with slight underspin that can catch opponent’s off-guard with its unconventional delivery (i.e. French Open 1989, Men’s Fourth Round). Mastery of these serves are a key component to success in Top Spin for PlayStation®2.
